the global cache plugin is working, it is responding with an error. there is something wrong with the IR code you are trying to tell it to send.

I am going to have to take a look at the code. I do not know what could have changed with the asyn module that might be causing your issue.


I do not own any globalcache products so it makes it difficult to find the problem. If you are willing to do some back and forth I am sure we can get it hammered out.

You will need to have EG 0.4 installed and EG 0.5.

to do this you will need to install either or then copy the contents of the program files (x86)\eventghost folder to another location. then uninstall it then install the other version.. You cannot run both at the same time. but you can run one and then the other.

The reason I need this is I am going to add some debugging routines to the old version to see what data is coming in and going out and then do that with the new version and compare them. we might find an issue there and we will be able to correct it. give me a day to make the changes to the plugins

I didn't forget about ya. I have been reading the API for the global cache piece.

this is the command being sent.


from what I have learned is that the structure is as such for the important bits.

<command>,<always a 1>:<connector number>, <id>, <frequency>

the connector number is numbered from left to right as seen on the back of the unit.

the id is any number you want this is what the unit is going to respond back with as an identifier

the frequency needs to be between 15000 and 500000 which is correct.

I have a suspicion something is getting mangled somehow. either through unicode changed do to a system encoding thing (this is something we have worked on in EG), or in the socket library because of the system encoding changes. I have attached a version you can test out for me and see if it goes. if not we may have to set up a monkey in the middle kind of a thing to see what exactly is being sent back and forth. But i do know this. I can speed up the process of sending command quite a bit. this plugin is set up to create a new socket connection for each command that is sent. I can change that up to keep the connection alive so it will simply have to transmit the data instead of opening up a new socket.

But lets fix the first issue at hand here.

OK the next process to find out exactly what is going on is going to be a bit more complex.

I am not sure if you have ever used RealTerm before.

But essentially you can set up real term to connect to the global cache piece. and then open a port for a connection. that open port is what you would have EG connect to. and you have real term pass the data between the 2. but it gives you the ability to see if something is getting mangled.

Maybe I can alter the plugin to loop back on it's self so we can see what is going between the 2

Let me ask you this. I see you are in Sweden. What do you have the locale settings in windows set to?. and would you mind setting it to United States English for testing? and see if the issue goes away when you do. This will help to give me direction as to where to look. Also does your keyboard have any special characters on it? do the commas and numbers show exactly the same as a US keyboard would?.

Yes, I do have special characters on it.

I changed the local settings to US, and changed keyboard layout to US. Still get the same in the log.

I will try to get RealTerm up and running.

this morning is not going to work for me. LOL i have some things i need to accomplish. If you are free Sunday morning (tonight for me) that would be OK. its easier for me if I do it in the evening. brain is running good and not waking up. and I usually don't go to bed until 3AM or so my time.
