What do you need?
* A PC running XP (any edition) with an available USB port (for the IR receiver).
* A MCE v2 remote
You don't have what most people call "mce remote", you have something else. the replacement driver probably doesn't work with it.
that said, there is an alternative that might work. since the replacement driver is just for stopping the inputs from being used directly by windows, you can disable that function manually. go back to using the real driver for the remote, and try to adapt one of the two methods used by this guy:

the old method involves removing some HId device from device manager, and those instructions are probably in the mce zip file he links. the newer method he says to do something in regedit, but you'd have to adapt that to your remote.
