Which Harmony Remote device?

Post by joshdorhyke »

Hello;

What is a good device (remote) to pick in Harmony database for a H659 remote. I'm looking for something with lots of buttons and prefer functions like vol / channel / arrow keys / FF / RW / play / pause / record etc to exist on the chosen remote so it's easier to map to the Harmony buttons (and will be mostly done). There has to be something that will work and is about the best choice for this.

I tried the Microsoft remote - it sends multiple commands and didn't work so hot
I tried the Soundgraph RSC remote - It wouldn't update the Harmony with this one
I tried the Soundgraph MM remote - It works but is a little low on buttons

The little IR firefly remote is really low on buttons so it's not the best to choose.
I guess I could try a Soundgraph Imon PAD and see if there are useful commands from it - I know the Harmony IMON PAD definitions are crap for use with the IMON receiver.

So, anyone have some other suggestion that has lots of buttons and sends a single remote command each press to make life easy.

I'm using a TIRA receiver so I can use any remote I want basically.

I searched for this and didn't really find anything relevant. If there is a previous post help me out.

Thanks, Peter

Well, I just tried to pick the Soundgraph Imon Pad from the Harmony database and it won't update to my remote. It gives an error. So, still looking.

If you don't use a Philips TV you may give the following a try: VCR/PVR => KLS => 'VDR'
I gives a remote which sends simple RC5 codes 0x00 - 0x3f
For a code <=> key mapping you can look at http://www.vdr-wiki.de/wiki/index.php/F ... ch_Harmony (it's german, but the images are english)

There are some more:
PVR => Hauppage => 'WinTV-PVR-350'
PVR => LinuxTV => 'VDR'
PVR => LinVDR => 'LinVDR'

Thanks for the tip. I just hadn't found a good remote profile to use yet. I'll give that VDR one a try.
