Hey just started this project, since I often never post things because I haven't gotten it perfect yet, I'm starting with a post!
Alot of people received Gear Vr headsets when the Samsung 8 came out and lets be honest the software was underwhelming, so you can find these things on amazon for like 10 bucks.
but the controller is REALLY COOL. It has fantastic gryo sensors with a trackpad AND buttons on the pad.
Check it out below if you haven't seen one. Very sleek.

I've done some research and come up with pretty much all of the information I think I'll need to build a plugin.
Someone already did most of the testing and engineering, not to mention the gearVr framework is on github, I just aim to bring those events into Eventghost to get my toes wet with hardware plugins.
Here is the git, any contribution is most welcome.

GearVr Plugin Thread
Re: GearVr Plugin Thread
Hi Dan,
Nice idea, it would certainly bring a new dimension to controllers
I'm intreaged how you intend to make use of the 3 axis movement in your setup?
good luck

Re: GearVr Plugin Thread
Actually that's a good question.
I'm mostly interested in using it as a controller in general, the 3 axis would be a bonus if I can figure it out.
I think I'll map regions around me in a circle to send different commands.
So when It's pointing to a certain screen/device, it will send commands to whichever is relevant.
Really I still need to brain storm up some other ideas tho, there are so many things one could do with it.
