Configuring EventGhost To Use Apple Remote In Windows XP

Post by Rod4Tech »

Hi All,

Has anyone had any success in configuring EventGhost to use a MacBook Pro's Apple Remote Controller to work in Windows XP for use with Power Point 2008? Please see my attached screen capture. I already have the ARW (Apple Remote For Windows) device drivers installed.

Hello All,

I finally figured out how to get EventGhost working with Power Point 2008 on my MacBook Pro. The critical step was putting a check in the box for setting the HID settings in EventGhost to ÔÇ£use raw data as event name.ÔÇØ Once this was done, when I pressed the remote I could see the signals generate events in EventGhost in the left pane.(For example HID .2587EE4509) is a left click of the remote. A right click generates an ID of HID .2687EE4506. After this I only needed to ÔÇ£add macrosÔÇØ in the right pane and set them to ÔÇ£keystokesÔÇØ (left arrow/right arrow) and then drag the HID events from the left pane to the macros that I wanted them to bind to in the right pane. I saved my configuration and minimized EventGhost & launched Power Point 2008 and wholla it worked like a charm. If any of your posters need a screen-cap of my configuration please see the attached.

Also, for those of you who need the ARW (Apple Remote for Windows) IR HID device driver please, download the attached .zip file and then decompress it. You will need this device driver in order for Windows to properly identify & access your Apple Remote Controller.

Hi

How do you use this ARW thing? Just install under program files?

The ARW (Apple Remote For Windows) is simply the "device driver" that will allow
Windows XP Professional 64 Bit/32 Bit to properly identify your IR Apple Remote Control.
Without this device driver, Windows wouldn't recognize your IR Apple Remote
in "Device Manager" of XP.

Hi,

I've been trying to get eventghost to work but I'm not sure where to start. I've installed the ARW and installed event ghost.

Where do I go from here? The Apple Remote doesn't recognize in the Event Ghost device menu. Can anyone give me sort of a step by step instruction as to what to do?

Thanks
