How to start?

Post by Eli »

Hey Guys,
I'm trying to fool around with EventGhost after using HIP and GIRDER for a while.

I think I'm missing some basics that should pop right up to my eyes.

I Have an MCE Remote (v2), and I'm picking it up just fine,
I'm trying to do the following:

Red (Click)
if winamp exists, make the remote control winamp
else run winamp, and make the remote control it

Any window changes focus, then the remote controls that window (picks it up from the front-most window list?)

I don't quite get the flow of the program and the events, macros.

what would be the correct way to do it,
create an event for each button -> check if the current window is X (say winamp/xbmc/GOM player) -> activate the correct folder?

I'd love it if you guys could help me out a bit,
Thanks!

Yep, exactly. Here is an example xml snipplet, paste into eventghost:

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<EventGhost Version="1480">
    <Folder Name="test" Expanded="True">
        <Macro Name="Enable Winamp" Expanded="True">
            <Action>
                Window.FindWindow(u'winamp.exe', None, None, None, None, None, False, 0.0, 2)
            </Action>
            <Action>
                EventGhost.NewJumpIf(XmlIdLink(8), 1, True)
            </Action>
            <Action>
                EventGhost.EnableExclusive(XmlIdLink(13))
            </Action>
        </Macro>
        <Macro Name="Start Program: winamp.exe" id="8" Expanded="True">
            <Action>
                System.Execute(u'C:\\Program Files\\Winamp\\winamp.exe', u'', 0, False, 2, u'')
            </Action>
        </Macro>
    </Folder>
</EventGhost>
Any window changes focus, then the remote controls that window (picks it up from the front-most window list?)
Load up the plugin 'Task Create/Switch Events' and switch between some windows. You will see that every time you switch two new actions are logged (make sure you uncheck the log only assigned checkbox), just drag the one you want in to a macro that enables a folder with stuff relevant for that specific task.

Hopefully this helped a bit :)
