Hi, i have this tuner, and want to use it's remote with Eventghost. I can do this now via WinLirc and some simple infrared receiver, but the problem is that it randomly skips commands, because they are decoded by software. I want to use the built in receiver of the card, but for now i cannot do it. I found a plugin, but have troubles configuring it. Can someone help? This is the discussion for the plugin, but no one responds there:

I don't have a card with the bt8xx chip like the AverTV Studio 303 so I wouldn't know how to get that to work. Your best bet is to sort it out with help from the people in the bt878 thread.
In the meantime if you continue using winlirc make sure it's set to run with realtime priority and then in the lirc-client fine tune the timeout for enduring events to be almost as low as possible while it still works es expected. That's about everything it's possible to do to make it run smoother. Also using a cpu with multiple cores improves winlirc's performance a lot.

Thanks for the reply. I've allready wrote in that thread, but no reply there... Now i really need this to get it working because i have the strangest problem... recently i swapped my videocard with Nvidia 6600 (only for the DVI output), and with the new card, no matter what version of the drivers i use, every time i play something to the overlay (no matter TV witch Dscaler, or movie with mplayer) winlirc stops decoding the signals from the remote. It receives the raw codes, but don't decode them. I understand it's not decoding them, because the icon in the systray is not blinking. Sometimes a code is recognized, but that's verry rare. When i stop the video again the remote codes are decoded properly. My CPU is Athlon XP 2200+, i know it's old, and it's single core, but i didn't have that problem with the old video card (Nvidia 5500GT). It's verry strange. The CPU load never exceeds 20-30% when watching TV with Dscaler, and still the remote isn't working. winlirc is with realtime priority, but still the problem exist. My OS is windows 2003, but that's the same as XP, and i don't thinks that's the problem. All hardware accelerations are enabled and on max and i really don't want to upgrade/change the PC, because it's only used for TV/Video.
That's why i really need to get that avertv receiver working, but i'm out of ideas on how to manage that

Right, well, as I said I don't know too much about the built in avertv bt8xx receiver.
The problem with winlirc is that it needs a very timely execution, just a bit of waiting in the cpu's execution queue will put it off the time frame it will work properly. As it basically just monitors the serial port and tries to detect the IR pulses, if it takes long to execute the timing will be off and results won't match the lirc.conf file for your remote anymore -> no IR event detected. However if your cpu is running 100% idle it most likely works just fine as everything goes as planned.
But yup, I do recommend getting a good USB IR receiver/remote setup, do pick something from the EG supported receivers list or else be prepared to fix it yourself.
