Losing connection to zoom player

Post by Salmoneus »

I am controlling zoom player 6.00 using the (almost) default Example.xml.

It works sometimes, sometimes not. When the connection is lost i usually get one of these events in the EG log:

task.Deactivated.zplayer or
task.Destroyed.zplayer

...which leads to another exclusive being activated...

...even though I - for example - have just used the BringToFront action on zoom player, it is frontmost and working.

Telnetting on port 4769 in this state gets a working connection to ZP.

Clicking on ZP CAN get the connection up again (with luck, a task.Activated.zplayer and nothing after it...)

What can the problem be? I have tried with and without my firewall (Zone Alarm) running. No difference. This is a one computer setup.

OS: Windows XP SP3
Eventghost 0.3.6.1486

No idea. I would guess there is some other program or driver causing the problem, as I use ZP 6.0 nearly everyday with EG under XP SP3 successfully. If you have another machine in reach, try it there if the problem also shows up there.

Task.Activated.zplayer is not an event of the ZP plug-in. It is from the Task plug-in, so it will even show up, if you don't use the ZP plug-in.
Please post software-related questions in the forum - PMs will only be answered, if really private, thanks!

I can reproduce this problem as well. It does seem to only be happening with Zoom Player.

If I have multiple movies in my playlist, when one movie finishes, and zplayer automatically switches to and plays the next movie in the playlist, the following scenarios occur:

If zplayer is launched, later finishes the first movie in the playlist, and then starts playing the second, the following events are logged (triggering eventghost to enable exclusives):

Task.Deactivated.zplayer
Task.Destroyed.zplayer
Task.Activated.zplayer

Each subsequent switch to the next movie in the playlist triggers the following events instead (less problematic for enabling exclusives)

Task.Deactivated.zplayer
Task.Activated.zplayer

also, anytime that i exit Zoom Player, the following events are logged:

Task.Deactivated.zplayer
Task.Destroyed.zplayer
ZoomPlayer.StateClosed
ZoomPlayer.ConnectionLost
Task.Activated.zplayer
Task.Deactivated.zplayer

the order in which these events take place is odd and causes quite a few problems with exclusives.

I can confirm this. It does the same here.

And sometimes Eventghost does not establish a connection with Zoomplayer, especially I started and closed Zoomplayer a lot of times before.
