Relaying an input to the output?

I have searched the forum, but not knowing the key words upon which to search has stymied my attempts.

I have Vista 32 and a Microsoft Remote (the V2 type). I have the power button programmed to turn on my TV. My wife wants something to sit infront of the TV...which then covers the TV's IR Receiver port. Obviously, this means I cannot turn my TV on or off.

I have the two IR transmit buds with the MS Remote. What I want to do is take the input received by the MS IR Receiver - the TV on/off signal - and relay out the IR transmit bud (which is then stuck onto the IR Input Port of the TV, which is a Panasonic Plasma).

Is this possible?

With a supported emitter, you can certainly program an EventGhost event to turn your TV on and off.

I use a USB-UIRT to do much the same thing. I have a TV set and receiver that I turn on and off via my Gyration remote or the computer keyboard. When I press the power button on my Gyration remote, I'm capturing the HID event, then transmitting the IR codes for power on to the TV and to the receiver.

You'd need an IR transmitter supported by EventGhost; as far as I know, only the UIRT is fully supported for receiving and sending. It's a pretty simple matter after that to set up the events in EG.

Hmm....the UIRT only has one output. I would need two, one for the cable box and one for the TV.

Actually, the UIRT has 3 outputs: It has the internal emitter, and you can plug 2 emitters in to the stereo jack on the back (you need a Y connector for that.)

You can also run more than 1 emitter from a single channel; I had 4 emitters hooked up at one point (a TV I had came with a 4-emitter cable; I was using it to tune my cable box.)
