Using new MCEIR.SYS driver with EventGhost

I'm using version 0.3.7.r851, under Windows Vista Ultimate SP1, with a Harmony One remote sending to an AIM IR602.

Last night I was setting up EventGhost with the standard eHome driver, and things were for the most part working well; EG was seeing commands sent from the remote using the Microsoft MCE Remote plugin.

Because I didn't want the remote emulating the keyboard, I'm trying out the alternate MCEIR.SYS driver, as detailed in

I've got it installed, I'm rebooted, Device Manager shows that everything went just fine...but now EventGhost isn't seeing anything.

Is there a different plugin I need to be using if I'm using this alternate driver?

Okay, now I'm reading that said driver is no longer necessary, that the default one can be made to behave like the alternate one. I'm reading that here:

...so I have a question about this: Specifically, about the following:

EDIT: I've detailed below a new method for making the eHome driver behave like the replacement driver, this new method is much better than the old one and everyone should switch to it.

I don't know how I didn't find this earlier...

Load "regedit.exe" and navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da

Then delete the keys from "CodeSetNum0" to "CodeSetNum3".

So here's my question: What I want to do is simply not have the remote trigger keystrokes. I use the system that is running EventGhost for other things than XBMC, and I would like to use the remote without sending cursor keystrokes, the digits 1-9, et. al. to whatever I might have in focus at the time. But of course I still want it to send "MCERemote.Up" and so forth so that EventGhost can execute it.

Is that what the above will accomplish?
