I have 2 likely separate serial issues. I thought maybe someone had some help/advice.
in order of priority...
1) I just changed motherboards (ASUS P5B to ASUS P5Q) and now my previously working serial port is now only 1-way... e.g. I can send serial from EG just fine but it does not "see" any serial commands. With the P5B when my Onkyo turned on, EG would see it and trigger other events. Now, EG does not see it at all... but sending serial commands works perfectly? Nothing in EG has changed... I even tried the latest version, no difference. Could there be a hardware or windows device manager setting messing it up? It is on COM1.
2) USB to Serial converter (Belkin) not working at all.
- I cannot get his working at all... maybe a windows device manager setting?
thanks for the help everyone!

Re: Need help with Serial connections... was working?
I installed the trial of this softwareto see what my remote was sending. There's a spy mode that doesn't change the configuration if you have some other process that can effectively use the port. I just used it for a few days and then removed it, but maybe it will help.
Good luck. Could it be that the new mobo has different connection settings?
