USB extender - Remotes work but EG does not log commands?

USB extender - Remotes work but EG does not log commands?
I am currently using some usb extender (usb-->cat5-->usb) The remotes work fine both RF and IR but EG will not "see" the remotes. It will not record the commands. I need to operate the PC from a distance so I will need the usb / ir entenders. Any thoughts?

Does it work without the extender in place? Just out of curiousity what brand of extender are you using? Is it USB2.0 compatible?
