waking pc from standby or hibernate

Post by Drabert »

i am having a problem getting a computer to wake after it goes into standby or hibernate. I can successfully wake the computer from lan if it is completly off, but for some reason when its in hibernate, it will not work. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

i figured it out after a few more hours of research. I thought i would post the answer to my own question just incase someone else is looking for the answer to this.

for a Windows XP machine (might be the same for others) go into the device manger and click on your network adapter. From there go to the power management tab and select all three of the check boxes. if you dont check the third, it will power itself on from time to time, but with it checked it only responds to WOL packets.

If any of the admins think that this is a bit of a no brainer, feel free to delete the post :)
