iPhone Examples
Can anyone supply their code for the iPhone interface. I would like to see example of real world usage.
It would also be cool if this forum had a place to download examples that people want to share.

Re: iPhone Examples
where did you see anyone here post a free iphone interface?
setup... XBMC, W7MC for DVR & Live OTA TV, JRMC for multi-zone audio, EG, MiCasaVerde Vera3, USB-UIRT IR receiver, Harmony remote, 5.2 home theater system
Re: iPhone Examples
This is the only interface that I'm aware of that is designed for eventghost...
http://melloware.com/products/eventphone/
It works, and I'm still waiting for itunes to update with version 1.3 so I don't have to shut it down and restart it on disconnect/sleep....
It does need the abiltiy to customize yet however.

read the thread...krambriw wrote:This is also a possibility (and free...)

the "free" app is not an Apple native iPhone/iPod app, it runs on the web server (or it did, have you tried it?)
Mellowware made a native iPhone/iPod app and is now selling it

Re: iPhone Examples
Mellowware's is extremely limited though. The buttons are all fixed size and artwork and impossible to use without looking at the screen. There is also no way to incorporate feedback from eventghost into the display on eventphone.Livin wrote:read the thread...krambriw wrote:This is also a possibility (and free...)

Re: iPhone Examples
I agree!
The user interface needs to allow customization, and I don't think it's going to be allowed.
Too Bad too!
I've recently began using another program...
http://www.hoofien.com/Snatch/index.html
It has a mouse, touchpad, and cutomizable remote. The documentation says 4 pages for remote, but the latest version seems to allow up to 8 pages for remotes.
It has it's own webserver, and I've been very happy with the Vista Media Center remote I downloaded from the site for use with Windows 7 Media center. I plan to configure a remote to control my DJ application called OtsAV. Unfortunately, OtsAV doesn't operate using keyboard shortcuts, but I've created all the macro scripts I need to control it externally in autohotkeys. I should be able to configure snatch to execute these scripts to control OtsAV, because each script is it's own compiled executable.
Ideally, it may be possible to use event ghost as the webserver instead of the Snatchserver application, and then I wouldn't need to use autohotkey scripted executables either. Just need to learn python...
Sorry, just thinking out loud...

Re: iPhone Examples
Can Snatch control stuff via RS232 or does it just emulate keypresses on the computer the server is running on?

Re: iPhone Examples
Snatch is simply an interpreter with a pretty face... turns your button presses on your iPhone/iPod into commands to send to your apps... it is not an automation tool like EventGhost. If you need to control RS232 or any complex actions (macros) use EG.
Since I have a Harmony remote and like to use buttons (I don't need to turn on and look at my remote every time I want to do something) I like it much better for 95% of the things I do.
The only things I use my iPod for are changing songs on XBMC from another room (XBMC Remote does this perfectly) and controlling my home automation (lighting, etc). The only gap I have is triggering a few EventGhost events that can be done either via web page, or HTTP commands. One XBMC Remote is able to send commands (it will soon) then I will just create a button on that for the event or have it automatically trigger with other actions... example: starting a movie triggers the lights to dim.
IMO EG needs something like Snatch integrated to enable a nice front-end in an easy fashion. Maybe you can convince the devs at snatch to create in seamless interface for EG? It would need to make it easy for a user to choose/assign only the Events/Actions they want to trigger.

Re: iPhone Examples
Yes, but how difficult would it be to use EG as the webserver instead of using the snatch server, but with the snatch iphone interface? You'd still need the snatch server possibly to configure the iphone gui, but I would think you could use the EG server to wire the commands to whatever.
It's something I plan to attempt at least.

Re: iPhone Examples
I'm doing my control through the EG webserver.
Right now I'm trying to figure out how to force landscape mode.
