Hi guys,
Decided to start a new post since this is a very specific issue (previous general post here: http://www.eventghost.org/forum/viewtop ... f=2&t=1787)
My situation:
I am using media portal as my media center of choice and Im Loving It (TM).
In media portal im using a plugin called my emulators to start a playstation 1 emulator called epsxe (loving that one too!)
For epsxe i wish to bind 4 buttons on my remote so i dont need a keyboard:
1 = F1 (save state)
2 = F2 (toggle saved-state)
3 = F3 (load state)
Red button = ESC (quit)
My Problem:
I got the buttons 1,2 and Red working in epsxe, however the 3 (F3) key does NOT work.
When i start media portal none of my navigation keys work (except the back button, that works, i hear the sound being played when i press it)
My Setup:
Here is my setup and what i have done (im at work so dont have the exact info for all sorry)
OS: Windows MCE 2005 with all the updates / rollups and whatever
Remote: Windows MCE remote v2 and ir receiver that came with it
Installed software:
Media Portal 1.0.1 (id prefer not to upgrade this atm because its running beautiful)
My Emulators Plugin (latest version)
Epsxe (latest version)
EventGhost (latest version)
MediaPortal MCE replacement plugin
Settings in OS:
Removed the remote control settings in the registry as described here
Settings in EventGhost:
Added MCE Remote plugin to autostart in EventGhost, this should be enough with the settings in MediaPortal for media portal to receive / work with my remote correct? (I mean i dont have to configure a mediaportal mode and so on right?)
Added Media Portal plugin to autostart in EventGhost.
Settings in MediaPortal regarding the remote:
Added MCE plugin to Media Portal and de-selected the tick in use MCE Remote under the "Remote" option, then went to plugins and made sure the plugin was enabled (so now the plugin is taking care of my remote control input). I selected the "accept messages"-mode.
Result:
In epsxe the buttons 1 = F1, 2 = F2 and Red = ESC all works, however 3 = F3 does not
I went into media portal and it worked except the Back button.. so i thought hmm i better restart (isnt that the first thing you think when runnning windows and something doesnt work?)
After restart, a window popped up from the mediaportal plugin (if it was the one in media portal or the one in eventghost i dont know) and said that my HID settings had been changed and that i needed to reboot (i dont understand that because i had already removed the 4 registry keys myself which is what this does i believe, and why would it change it after reboot and not before?)
Anyways, after a new restart my remote didnt respond in mediaportal again (except if i press the back button it works, wich was the only button that didnt work before)
So now it doesnt work in mediaportal no matter how many times i reboot, so ive readded the registry keys (yes i took a backup) and now use the remoet as usual and ghostevent is currently not starting up on windows startup. I need to have the system running because the girlfriend uses it to play Oddworld on the ps1 emulator :O)
I really appreciate the input youve given me so far guys! Nice to not having to be alone to solve this problem.
I am confident that with your input i will solve this problem.
I will post my EventGhost tree to this post when i get home. I have edited the example down to a bare minimum and only included what i need.
EDIT: Could it be that the MediaPortal MPC plugin and EventGhost MediaPortal plugin cant access the remote at the same time? So its either one or the other? basing this question on the fact that if i have EventGhost running and try to configure media portal plugin it will say that its beeing used. Just a thought.

Re: EventGhost with Media Portal and EPSXE
Small update...
I stumbled upon the information below from this site:
I will try to disable it in both when i get back home.
I stumbled upon the information below from this site:
I myself personally have only deleted them in the first key (ending in 57da)HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\hidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da
and
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\hidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57dc
Delete CodeSetNum 0 - 3 in both keys and It seems to work... It disables media center and keyboard handling of the remote so that hip can work... Hope this helps someone.... All I know is that it worked for me.
I will try to disable it in both when i get back home.
Re: EventGhost with Media Portal and EPSXE
I got it _all_ working now.
So happy with this program!! :O)
I will post my xml file. probably tomorrow, need to go work out and spend some time with the girlfriend.
With my current setup i can Quit, Save/Choose/Load states in ePSXe (Playstation Emulator).
Navigate/use Media Portal
Start Media Portal with the Start button my MCE remote.
Switch to mouse mode with i button
Switch to keyboard mode with telext button
SAWEET!
Edit: Updated as i solved the F3 problem, the problem was with Find Window, so made it only look for the program not the window and so forth. yay!

Hi, I would like to thank you for sharing how you fixed this problem. I was looking for it too and I'm happy that I found your thread.
Now it works great for me too.
