sms control

Post by ryanmc »

im trying to generate events using sms ive tried the email and pidgin plugins, using the pidgin plugin was cool but i could only generate one event so i couldnt control much and to use the email plugin i installed hmailserver its instant and runs scripts so it could generate events based on diffrerent criteria im trying to use something like "if subject = lron run function C:\folder\lron.bat , i have 10 or 20 of these dif batch files to run dif events that work ffine with eventghost that id like to run from sms too.
im not sure of the best way to use sms to control pc/eventghost but it seems like it would be the most flexible and robust using eventghost if i knew anything about a script. otherwise im stuck checking email every minute. http://www.hmailserver.com/forum/viewto ... =7&t=15655
hmailserver
"hMailServer provides all of the important functionality you need to run your own e-mail server. As a user of hMailServer, you get continuous updates and great support from other users and developers in the forum. hMailServer is a free product. Free when it comes to the price, and free when it comes to how you can use or distribute it. hMailServer supports the open email standards POP3, SMTP and IMAP4. This makes the server compatible with most email clients available. hMailServer 4 and earlier versions are licensed as open source under the GPL license. Later versions of hMailServer (version 5 and later) are still free of charge but closed source."

why don't you check a bit on xPL discussed at this forum

With Google Talk in your iPhone you could control your EG the way you want

you are of course free to decide your method but I do not agree if you say sms would be faster and simpler
- I'm connected with my Nokia E51 (3G or WiFi or GPRS) and I'm using the java app for GoTalkMobile
- I just write the code words I have defined for the macros I want to run
- Instant reaction from EG, so fast, no way a sms can be faster
