Hello,
I would like to discover which codes are sent by my remote for my old television. This is to be able to program a new universal remote I just bought.
I thought I might be able to use my laptop's IrDA bult-in port and EventGhost software, use the old remote in front of the port, and somehow see the code sent by the remote appear in the software. Unfortunately I can't find how to do this!
Are you aware of any way to achieve this with EventGhost (or any other software), without buying any hardware?
Many thanks,
Olivier

FYI
Thank you for the information: I absolutely didn't expect that IrDA and consumer IR was something different!
Searching on the subject sent me to the following explanation which I found helpful: http://www.alanjmcf.me.uk/comms/infrare ... c128227634.
http://www.tuxmobil.org/Infrared-HOWTO/ ... -irda.html has more detailed informations (which I didn't understood).
If someone is aware of a way of receiving TV remote codes with my SMSC IrCC port (which seems to be possible according to http://www.lirc.org/irda.html), without need of a technical background which I don't have, I'm still interrested.
