Adding Additional Events/Custom Events

I recently got a Harmony One remote and configured it as an MCE Remote. Everything is working perfectly!

I'm finding that I am wanting more IR codes to do everything I need. I want to add more events that are visible from EventGhost to the remote that are not standard on a typical MCE remote. Is there a way to send an IR code (of a device I'm not using) to EventGhost and have it interpret the IR code as a new custom event?

For instance, if I use an old VCR remote and shot the IR at EventGhost, can I configure EventGhost to interpret that as an eject CD on HTPC?

I'm using a "microsoft ehome infrared transceiver" and EventGhost 0.3.7.1194

Sure, but not with an MCE IR receiver. You need a general purpose IR receiver system to be able to pick up just about any normal CIR (Consumer IR) remote. (such as usb-uirt, IgorPlug*, Home Electronics Ira/Tira, Irman, one of the Keene IR systems..)

You do know you can build multiple configs for your remote and switch between them with the EG's enable/disable actions? Also the 'Jump if longs press' action and Multitap plugin are very useful for packing more features to a limited number of buttons.

Actually, if you are running Vista/Win7, my MCE plugin will detect non-MCE events. The plugin doesn't work with XP, and it isn't bundled with EG by default. You can download it here.

Hmm.. sounds great stottle. Maybe it's time for me to get an MCE remote and try it out.
