Remote setup help - Pinnacle Remote Kit

Post by mrl72 »

Hi all

Yesterday I purchased a new Pinnacle Media Center remote kit that comes with a IR receiver/blaster. I also just recently downloaded this program in the hope to be able to control my other components by blasting IR signals to them but I'm having a hard time getting it to work. Basically what I did was plug in the receiver and install the drivers from here: http://www.ironclad.net/pinnacle_remote_kit. I tested the IR Receiver by opening up notepad and hitting a button on the remote, the corresponding button was showing up in notepad. So far so good. I then installed Eventghost and added the MCE Remote plugin then added an IR transmitter action. I wanted to learn the power button on my Sony receiver so the idea is I would click Learn IR then press the button on the remote. When I click the learn button it sits and waits until I press a button on the remote I want to learn, which seems to work fine except the box where it looks like it should show the command or code is blank. It must recognize the fact that I pressed a button on the remote because the Learn button becomes enabled again. Even so I still hit apply then test it nothing happens.

Am I doing things correctly here? Should I have perhaps used a different remote driver, or do I need to use a different plugin?

Any help much appreciated!

If you are running Vista/Win7, you can try the new MceRemote plugin. I don't believe the transmit capability was ever fully working on the original plugin that comes with EG.

Here's the link to the new plugin.
