Win 7 Media Center
Be gentle with me. I'm just starting the long quest to use event ghost. After reading several threads, I have the impression there is a problem using EG with Win 7 Media Center because if the Media Center windows isn't active the actions will not work. I have added find windows and bring to front on several of the commands in the MCE plugin and they seem to work. Is anyone succesfully using EG with Win 7 media center and is it working correctly? In layman's terms, what exactly is the problem?
Re: Win 7 Media Center
Ideally Media Center would have some reliable "control interface" that you could use to send commands. Then you wouldn't need to worry about the window positions and such. I don't know if media center has something like this or not.. never looked into it.
I think the problem roots itself in the fact that the coders here aren't using windows media center, so issues that people might be having with it may go unaddressed for some time.
I'm using XBMC myself btw.

Re: Win 7 Media Center
I use both 7MC (WMC) & XBMC with USB-UIRT & Harmony remote (mimicking the WMC remote).
It will take some getting used to since I have a complex setup - mainly do to the odd way EG handles a few functions. I do several checks in several places to ensure apps are, or are not, running and then trigger actions based on the results. I have it fully functioning, and seemingly smoothly via button presses on my IR remote.
Since WMC does not have an exposed control API all commands are key presses and thus WMC must be in focus to receive commands. I simple close each app when not in use and it works fine and switches in 2-3 seconds.
I've attached my config file... use it as you like and if it gives you ideas on better ways to do it, we all win!
please report back on your progress

Re: Win 7 Media Center
Thanks for the replies. Have you used the MCE plugin in the plugin forum? It seems people were having problems using that. It never left beta as near as I can see.
Re: Win 7 Media Center
check out my config - I updated it, works a bit better now, still not perfect.

I am tweeking your myconfig.xml file and need your MCE # plugin to avoid "Plugin not found" errors.
Please post to this thread.
BTW, I am working on 7MC booting into focus for MCE control via UDP from a Crestron AV2.
Thanks - Brad
Re: Win 7 Media Center
plugin I use is XBMCrepeat. You can DL it from this forum
also, how are you doing this... can you explain "7MC booting into focus for MCE control via UDP"?
... I have never had an issue with MCE - once it loads it has focus for me. I use a dual monitor setup, which makes things a bit tougher, but I use Maxifier app to move it to the 2nd screen reliably.
