I know similar questions have been posed but I'm trying to get a little more specific advice please.
My system- HTPC w/:Win7x64
XBMC 10.1
EG latest ver.
Logitech Harmony
Slicksolutions MCE power tool
Scheduled Task to shutdown every night
BIOS setting to reboot every afternoon
My problem: I have an activity on my Logitech to power on all my HTPC related devies. This works well to power on. Problem comes when powering off. I use the POWER button when done to power off all devices, including the HTPC. My intention is to kill XBMC and put the HTPC to sleep. This seems to work correctly, but I think it is causing a ungraceful shutdown which sometimes causes issues when trying to come out of sleep.
I'm Thinking: Instead of using the Logitech to send the HTPC into standby, would it be better to shutdown XBMC with the SHUTDOWN menu optoin, then trigger an event withing EventGhost that will gracefully put the HTPC into standby? I'm thinking that I could modify my Logitech activity where it does NOT send the POWER OFF command to the HTPC when I press the power button. But it would shut down the TV, reciever, etc..
As an afterthought, I do not have any MCE remote settings mapped in EG. Since Logitech has an option to add an MCE remote and MCE keyboard, I felt this gace me sufficient control of all MCE functions.
Can you please share your thoughts on this? My main goal is to control sleep and wake control with Logitech and/or EventGhost. Thanks!
