USB-UIRT Transmit IR Action Delays AutoRepeat

Post by tobyg »

Hello.

I've set up a simple macro to transmit an IR code (TV volume up) from my USB-UIRT, triggered by a button press event on my RF remote (Firefly). The macro contains the AutoRepeat action, set to repeat the macro every 0.2 seconds (i.e., 5 times per second). The problem is that the USB-UIRT Transmit IR action takes too long to finish executing (maybe 0.5 seconds), thereby slowing down the macro and holding up the AutoRepeat. This makes my volume up change too slow.

I've tried turning on and off the "Pass short repeat codes as enduring events" to no avail. Also, when I quickly push the button on the RF remote to manually fire the action, the macro fires quickly in succession, without any delay, so the action doesn't seem to be locking up the whole system, just the individual macro. (In other words, I can manually repeat the macro more quickly by pushing the remote button quickly than with the AutoRepeat approach by holding down the button).

Has anyone else run into this problem?

I'm using Windows XP 32-bit, with Eventghost 0.4.1.r1544.

Regards,
Toby

I believe I've resolved my issue. The problem seems to be with the newer version of the USB-UIRT plugin included with the more recent versions of EventGhost.

I saw from this post:

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3311&p=18873&hilit=usbuirt#p18873

that the earlier version of the plugin worked better for that poster, so I tried the same. Once I tried that, while there seems to still be a very slight delay, the problem is basically solved.

I wonder why a newer version of the plugin was developed -- were there problems with the old version?
