Keep XBMC always on top despite background scraping

Post by Ron The Don »

Hey guys,

I have an automation set up with The Renamer and Ember Scraper.
When a movie is downloaded, it's automatically moved to a folder where The Renamer will
rename it and then move it to my movie library, where Ember will scrape it.
I have used the following command line options for The Renamer:
-fetchmovie

For Ember Media Manager:
-newauto -all -nowindow

Both applications are set to "Minimized" in Window Option, yet whenever they start to process,
XBMC is minimized and I cannot bring it back to the front with my remote control, because
EventGhost will not process two makros at the same time.
I know this is not the most elegant version by far, so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Question 1: Is there any way to keep XBMC in the front, even while scraping is going on?
Question 2: Sometimes Ember / TheRenamer will go crazy and repeat scraping for many times. Is there anyway to make Ember wait 30 Seconds,
but still being use other makros during this time. From what I read "Wait 30 seconds" will halt all other makros as well.

Thanks a lot and have a great holiday season!

Is it perhaps possible to run eventghost twice? That would solve my problem!

if findwindow + bringtofront dont work simply try with start application action
For the sake of simplicity you should use the task create/switch events plugin
Aswell, the use of the OS menu should help you i believe

You can download my xml config file and find some inspiration maybe:

Thanks for your help master!

I have looked at your XML file with Eventghost but I still don't know how task create/switch would help me
keep using XBMC with my HTPC remote, while there is another program running in the background.
Could you please explain that for a noob. Thanks!
