HAMA MCE Remote (Auvisio VRC-1100 Ro)

Post by Momro »

Hi everyone,

I own a Hama MCE Remote and would like to use it together with XBMC. Mainly, I want the Remote to start XBMC (12.3) - everything else works fine :-D Maybe I don't even need such a complex tool like EventGhost, but I couldn't find anything else on the Net. I'm using Windows 8.0, 64bit, by the way.

So, I struggle with the fact that EventGhost is trying to install the driver "auvisio VRC-1100 Ro" but fails at any attempt. As far as I can tell, it's due to the fact that Windows requires signed drivers. This opens up a three questions:
* If I disable the "signed drivers" requirement, install the driver, return to "normal Windows", will this disable the driver?
* Is EventGhost total overkill if I only want to start XBMC? Any alternatives?
* What specs should I look for in other remote controls if I want to avoid this 'problem' in the future?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Cheers,
Momro

PS: Also, I once had EventGhost working (dunno what I did then), but some inputs were doubled (up/down/left/right).
