NFC readers for EG

Post by skribb »

I have had an NFC chip implanted into my hand (it's a MiFare Ultralight NTAG216). As someone who is less than thrilled about pain I found it almost painless. According to the guy who performed the injection (Jowan Österlund) I'll be sore for about a week. I have tried it on one smartlock so I know it works on smartlocks, which is pretty damn cool. Are there any other ways I can use it other than swiping my hand in front of a smart lock? Are there any devices (compatible with EG in one way or another) that can sense NFC devices or am I confined to the 4cm max distance limit of NFC? It's not the easiest thing emulating Force powers with that teeny tiny distance limit

Thanks in advance to KG :P

You can use a variety of things. something like an arduino with an nfc tag reader and a couple of bits of software will notify EG whenever it reads the thing. and from there you can perform actions.

now here would be a really interesting thing to do... if you use the FIND application (android only) coupled with something like tasker and your phone has NFC abilities. you can have tasker send over to EG that the tag has been used and depending on what room you are in it could perform specific actions... so if you use android to power your LCD remote you can have it automatically turn everything on every time you pick up the remote.. no need to press a power button.

This sounds like something I'm willing to delve into :D
