Hey I'm having some problems setting up my gmail account with your email plugin.
Whenever I try to send a email eventghost gives me this

Exception in thread SendMailThread:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "threading.pyc", line 525, in __bootstrap_inner
File "C:\Program Files (x86)\EventGhost\plugins\Email\__init__.py", line 2278, in run
NameError: global name 'text' is not defined

I've matched google's email set up instructions, but still nothing.
It's weird because I had it working at one point and now its not.

This is a really cool plugin I would like to implement, any help you could give me I would appreciate.

You can download a corrected version.
The problem was that the plugin was trying to write an error message SMTP Protocol Error: Cannot connect to SMTP server "XXXXX".

Ah. Where can I find a corrected version to download?
I've tried your original link, but it doesn't fix the error. I've looked everywhere
The version I have right now is 0.1.6

Thanks Pako

Ok I downloaded the updated version 0.1.7, but now it won't connect to google's servers

IMAP Protocol Error: Cannot connect to IMAP server "imap.gmail.com:993"
SMTP Protocol Error: Cannot connect to SMTP server "smtp.gmail.com:587"

I've checked all the settings and restarted my computer and eventghost.
Any thoughts?

If it worked before, look for an problem somewhere outside the plugin (eg firewall).
Inside of the plugin is done no change except that the former plugin
could not write error message xxxx Protocol Error: Cannot connect to xxxx server "XXXXX" and now he can.

Hi,
I have just discovered Eventghost and still finding my way around, but so far it is amazing.

I could really make use of the email plugin (a great idea also) but i cannot get it to connect to my server.

POP3 Protocol Error: Cannot connect to POP server "pop3.live.com:995"

I am using a hotmail account, pop3.live.com, and as far as i am aware i have copied all my settings correctly from my outlook account but the plugin will not connect?

Any help with this appreciated.

I was forced to create a hotmail account so I can try.
I have not seen any problem. This way account setup (as in the following pictures) is operating normally.
If you did not work, look for a problem such as a firewall.

Hi Pako,
Thanks for the quick reply.

I have tried your settings and unfortunately i still get the same connection error.
As far as i am aware, my settings are correct as they work ok in other mail apps.
I have also tried disabling my firewall and this makes no difference.

My hotmail account is a co.uk rather than .com if this makes any difference also?
Would be great to know if anyone else has had success using an hotmail.co.uk account?

Hi Pako, success at last.

Not sure what i've done different but it is now working - thank you.

Just a couple of questions...

I would like to be notified about how many unread emails i have however it appears that i am being notified of all the emails in my inbox? is this correct?

Also, can this notification then be passed to the text to speech plugin so that i can then be told that i have 'x' emails for example?

Please note that i am intending to learn up on the python script but at this stage i am very limited with it!

Unfortunately, POP protocol does not distinguish whether the messages are seen or unseen, if left on the server.
Set your e-mail client so that messages on server after downloading deleted.
For example, in Mozilla Thunderbird is setup as follows:

Hi Pako,

Thats a shame about the limitation of hotmail, otherwise that would have been a nice feature for me.

Just a thought, I saw on previous posts about a possible Windows Messenger plug in?
Is this something you are likely to develop at all?
I know on the main messenger window this shows the number of unread emails, could this be 'tapped into' in any way?
