Hi! I'm looking into downloading EventGhost, and have gone through 4 pages of the forums so far. I don't believe I've seen an answer to what I'm asking, but if there is one out there, please be patient with me.
I run XBMC on my 2nd monitor (an hdtv) from my desktop (extended, not clone mode). I often use my desktop at the same time on the primary monitor (a standard lcd screen). In order to control xbmc, I have to have it as the active window. Is there any way to set eventghost to always send my command presses to the xbmc window, while STILL being able to use my mouse/programs on the primary monitor? Much appreciated!

Transmitting Command to Certain Program
Re: Transmitting Command to Certain Program
You can use "Find Window" to target an application before using the "Emulate keystrokes" action.
But in this case, why aren't you using the xbmc or xbmcrepeat plugin? It doesn't work by emulating keystrokes so it shouldn't matter what you have active.

Re: Transmitting Command to Certain Program
I don't know why. I added the plugin, but clicking the buttons still translates to actions happening in the main windows screen. What should my event tree look like, and what do i have to do to disable windows from picking up signals from my remote? Attached is new event tree. Appreciate the help.
Re: Transmitting Command to Certain Program
Most likely what is happening is that your HID Gyration remote is also still sending button presses to Windows, it's the normal way how the remote is supposed to work. You need to stop that from happening. I don't really know how that is done (Since I don't have a HID remote of any sort), but I think you can find answers by searching the forum.
Re: Transmitting Command to Certain Program
Well, I'll surely try to find that out. But regardless, when the window isn't in focus (when i'm doing other work), EventGhost doesn't seem to be passing the commands along to XBMC (which runs on the secondary monitor/HDTV). What can I do to make this work? I read about coding in findwindow commands, but have no idea how to go about doing that.
Re: Transmitting Command to Certain Program
Do you see events appear in EG's log view when you push buttons on the remote? Have you mapped these to the actions cretated by the xbmc plugin?
Re: Transmitting Command to Certain Program
Events definitely appear in log view. I'm a little confused as to how to "map" commands to the plug-in actions. Is it a matter of right-clicking? I saw something about dragging the log inputs over, but that didn't appear to work.
Re: Transmitting Command to Certain Program
That's exactly what you should do.. drag and drop events from the log view to a macro you want to associate the event with. Whenever that event happens again it will run the macro.
Re: Transmitting Command to Certain Program
Thanks. I'll try that again tonight (at work atm).
As for how the plugin works, do you know if it's simulating keyboard commands, or is it sending commands directly to the program? Would it be possible to disable everything except for the XBMC plugin (ie - keyboard emulation), and still have it work?

Re: Transmitting Command to Certain Program
The XBMC plugin uses a TCP/IP socket to communicate with XBMC. (xbmc has a remote interface for this purpose). I'm actually using an alternate "XBMC Repeat" plugin myself, it allows the remote to work exactly like with an xbox. You can find it here on the forum if you want to try it out.
I don't know what keyboard emulation macros you have enabled, but you won't need them if you use the actions from the xbmc plugin instead.
