vista compatibility

Post by boykillsworld »

Just curios where you guys are in terms of windows vista compatibility. I realize that most of this stuff doesn't even have drivers for vista yet but do you think the port will be quick or slow and painful.

Well, I hadn't much fun with the preview versions (missing drivers for my hardware), but that was not related to EventGhost. And Vista will only be sold next year here in Germany. So we will see how painful this gets, as soon as I get my hands on a resale version.

I can confirm that v0.3.4 does not work in Vista. But the latest beta does work (tried v0.3.5 build 886).

Nice to hear, that it runs.

no go for build 939

Post by ih8gates »

Just FYI: I tried running build 939 in Vista with no luck. I can successfully run it from the command line using the -n switch to send instructions to another machine, but I can't get a GUI. Watching the task monitor, I see EG start, then quit.

I'm using v0.3.4 build 851 with Vista. Works great for me.

Well, 939 has many code changes. Since I have no Vista machine, I have no clue were it might crash. You could try to start EG with the "-debug" parameter and look into the log. Maybe there is some information that might help.
