Possible to run 2 eventghost installations att the same time

Post by tjabas »

I have problems with some of the configuration and thinking of if it would be possible to run 2 installations of eventghost on the same computer, im running Windows xp.

Would this be possible?

Hi.

Im using viewtopic.php?f=13&t=8168, to monitor my internet connection, but i cant get it to work without problems, i have tried Every settings that eventghost can provide, but with no luck.

This plugin activates by other macros without being programmed to do so, for example, i have an dusk relay that turns on and off my lamps, when the dusk relay activates the lamps to turn on, in some strange way this internet monitor plugin restarts the modem, and this is not programmed to do so, and it seems like this thing happens everytime there is many actions that need to be made,

And that is why i came to think of to Only use this internet monitor on one special evenghost setup, this plugin also slow down eventghost when its making the modem reboot when internet disapears.
Hope you understand what i mean Ôÿ║

If the macro that is restarting the router is triggered by 'false' reason, I would check the time settings for the monitoring. The only thing in that monitoring setup that will restart your modem is if the egg timer 'ResetRouter' is fired. That will happen if the MQTT event 'MQTT.Check_Internet' is not arriving on time.

Another possible reason could be that the dusk relay command also is directly recognized by the Nexa device. Be fully sure that it only is programmed with the address that the monitoring setup is using (clean it, then program it again)

yes there is some sort of false triggering going on, it happens almost every time the dusk relay enables or disables, i also have my burgular alarm connected to the lights in our house, when turn the alarm active, all the light go off and vice versa, its the same in this case to, the modem suddlenly starts to reboot , often twice, when the burgular alarm is set to on or off, what i have seen is that its the ResetRouter that it suddenly fired, with no reason what so ever.

the time settings for your setup in the monitor plugin is set as you recommend, i have aslo tried to increase the timer in scedulghost, but its the same, do you Krambriw have any other solution of the timer settings or something else?

i really like your plugin thats why i thought of using another evengtghost setup just for that plugin, but it dont seems easy to do.

i have cleaned the nexa unit several times, so it is impossible for some other device to be connected to this specific nexa unit.

Krambriw, could it be like this, that when eventghost is processing alot of events at the same time, it cant be able to "see" the MQTT event 'MQTT.Check_Internet in time.

Can i maybe increase the lime for the ,MQTT event 'MQTT.Check_Internet? if that is the case?

and if its possible, were do i change the time?

now my question for you is this. i remember stating you have the modem in gateway mode. what router are you using after that? and have you tried rebooting the router instead of the modem to see if the connection cones alive again.

sometimes an isp will reissue IP addresses and your router isn't updating and when you do a remoot of the modem it breaks the connection to the router there for triggering the router to ask for a new ip address when the modem comes back up. same goes if it is directly connected to your computer and the modem is in gateway modem.

if it is directly connected to the computer you can for a dhcp renewal by going to the command prompt and typing in these commands

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

it's worth a look see. the problem might be more on your end then with your isp and the modem.

this way we can narrow down the exact cause.

if you are running a router between your modem and your computer then i would login to the router and in there you should be able to renew the ip address manually. or even restart it manually.

i have all kinds of issues with my zwave at 2:00 am when the network rebuild some of my lights will flash. that is the only reason as to why i wouldn't recommend using any kind of RF to switch the power off to the modem. because every zwave device behaves a little differently. and it could be when its "healing" the rf network which is a rebuild process and gets done once a day could be causing it to switch off and then back on really fast. might not be noticeable if the device is attached to lights but something more sensitive would power off then back on.

Hi!

yes youre right, we┬┤ve talked about it before, the reason why i wanted Krambits plugin to work is that if i ever change modem in the future, it would be easier to keep the connection survaillence software fully functioning and just replace the modem,

And to be able to enter the modem to get it to self reboot would ofcourse be the best way, as you wrote in an earlier thread about this.

Im using a technicolor TG799TSvn v2, and the router is a PfSense router, i think you know what it is.

I have tried to reboot the pfsense router when my internet stops, but that dont work, its really strange because if i look inside the pf router i can see that i have internet connection trough the tehcnocolor modem, i can see the external IP and all, but there is no connection.

So i need to reboot the technocolor modem to get internet back.

Im not using Zwave, its just a 433mhz transmitter.

You told me earlier that i could access the technicolor modem trough an cat cable in port 4, i guess that i should connect my laptop straight to that port then?

well typically when a modem/router gets put into gateway mode. this completely turns off the router functions of the modem and puts a straight line to the ISP. that being said. by doing this it makes you unable to access any modem config options anymore by doing this because it is no longer acting as a proxy/packet forwarder.

so they had to make it so that if you wanted to change it back you would be able to. so typically they move all of the configuration stuff to lan port 4 and set that port up to listen on 10.0.0.1 sometimes. it will not issue an ip address when you connect. you have to manually set your network adapter to ip: 10.0.0.2, subnet mask: 255.0.0.0

and then go and access the config at http//10.0.0.1

now there is a sneaky method to doing this because you already have a separate router. and the modem just plug port 4 of the modem into a port on the separate router.

there is only one down side to this setup. you will not be able to have the computer accessing this way have a dynamic ip address. so you will want to go to a command prompt. and key in ipconfig /all

and look for you adapter in the list.

write down the ip address, subnet mask, and default gateway

and in your properties for the network config on your laptop for the adapter that is currently connected to your local lan. you will need to switch off the automatic stuff. and enter the numbers above. and under the dns i just use google servers for dns

so primary: 8.8.8.8
secondary: 8.8.4.4

then click apply.
then the advanced button.
right at the top there is an add button. this will allow you to enter the 10.0.0.2 there.

allowing your network card to have 2 ip addresses, now it has been a while since i have done this. so i can't remember what the catches are to this. and i know there are a few. one of them being the dhcp thing. and another being something with the gateways. idk

here are some screen shots of what i am describing.

the first is the ipconfig and the information needed from it.

i have red arrows pointing at the things. but on this won i also included the dns servers just in case you want to use your isp's
ipconfig.jpg
this next one is the ipv4 properties
ipv4 properties.jpg
ipv4 properties.jpg (42.63 KiB) Viewed 4186 times
and the last is the advanced button
2nd ip address.jpg
2nd ip address.jpg (32.32 KiB) Viewed 4186 times
now i am not sure of the specific ip address your modem will default to on port 4. but that is usually what it is for most modems.

and if you decide to change your modem it is not all that hard to add a different modem to the mix. a lot of modem/routers have a hidden reboot command accessible through an simple http call. and some of them you can even restart using upnp. but my thought would be is if you replace the thing you are going to do some research into one that doesn't have issues like this. LOL

thank you for taking your time to describe all of this.

but unfortunately i couldnt connect to the modem, i also tried the ip config, but i wasnt successfull on that one either.

i connected my laptop into port 4 on the modem, and changed the ip of the network card to 10.0.0.2 and the subnet to 254.0.0.0 but i was unsure about the standard gateway, i tried several things there, but it was impossible.

i have seen 2 different ip addresses for that modem.

one being 10.0.0.138 but doesn't state that you need to change the port

and another states you have to be plugged into the wlan port and connect to 192.168.100.1 but i have never heard of a wlan port. wlan is wireless lan and wan is wide area network

but that is what i have read

without the last 15 minutes or so.

if we can bring up the config page for it we are in like flynn

i am hoping the 254.0.0.0 is a typo and you actually set it to 255.0.0.0

because if that is off like that then you would end up on a completely different network than the modem

It should be able to reproduce this with the "wait" action in EventGhost. No Events are fired while EventGhost waits and they all fire at once afterwards.
